Another race team moves to Dirt
This past Saturday I spent the evening at Eldora in my AMSOIL booth educating and talking about AMSOIL and racing. Not being a dirt fan or regular at Eldora I did not know what to expect. While standing in my booth I saw a familiar face, Austin Troyer. We talked awhile and later I spent time with the rest of the family.
I knew they were not happy with the way racing has gone the last few years for Troyer Motorsports. They have had much this year thinking where they were going in racing. After Austin’s new late model was in a big wreck at Columbus Speedway, the Troyer Motorsports team did a lot of thinking and decided to set out the rest of the racing season.
They sold Austin’s Late Model and Andru’s compact car. They have Dylan’s Late Model and Austin’s late model engine up for sale.
They traveled to many tracks to watch racing and they enjoyed the people they met. Most of the tracks were dirt and ran open wheel cars. At these tracks they also saw many old friends from their early racing days. The boys wanted to go dirt racing but mom was not so sure. But after going to several dirt tracks and seeing their friends again, she came into line, well almost. She is willing to move forward with the idea of racing dirt. She is not near as excited about getting back to open wheels and racing old friends as AJ and the boys.
Troyer Motorsports is moving back to their roots. They are going back to open wheels. Austin picked up his 410 engine at Eldora Speedway this pass weekend from the engine builder. Austin’s plans are to race non-wing 410 at Waynesfield Raceway Park along with Dylan plans of racing a mini-sprint there also. Andru is looking for a compact to race at Waynesfield Raceway Park.
So in 2016 Troyer Motorsports will be racing open wheels cars on dirt and mainly at Waynesfield Raceway Park. Good luck and looking forward to seeing success.
