Last year Shadybowl decided they wanted to give their fans better shows. The new owner chose to have several special events and invited several traveling series to the track. Shadybowl had a great lineup of events from Midgets, to Sprint cars and Street stock to outlaw bodied late models. The problem was that some of these events were new series trying to get started and over promised. The others were series that have been around for a while and were struggling to get car counts.
Only one of the seven special events took place. The cancellation of the two traveling series the 4th of July weekend, just days before, and this put Shadybowl in a bind.
Shadybowl could not rely on traveling series so Rick and his team made a decision to provide their own special events. While doing so decided to honor the hard working people that have made Shadybowl Speedway their home. They came up with the idea of the classic. They would pick a team or family that has made Shadybowl Speedway what it is today. People that stayed with them through good times and bad time to ensure racing would continue.
They started with Roger Winget, a long time promoter of the modified class, car builder and racer. Then they had Roger Roush Classic (was rained out and rescheduled).
This weekend they will be having with Isaac Family Classic. The Isaac family has done a lot for Shadybowl Speedway from taking fantastic photos to being the track announcer and the list goes on and on. The Isaac family has chosen the class with their name on it would be the Modified class. 40 lap feature. Payout is as follows...
1st. $1200, 2nd. $850, 3rd. $600, 4th. $450, 5th. $325
6th. $275, 7th. $225, 8th. $200, 9th. $180, 10th. $170
11th. $160, 12th- 24th. $150
In addition to the increased payout every driver that starts the feature will have their name put into a bucket, so the Isaacs family can draw 1 name out to receive a new set of tires.
Shadybowl Modified class has become a full field of cars and great racing.
So if you want a night of great racing, fun and to honor along time supporting family of racing then join us this Saturday night at 7pm at Shadybowl Speedway.
