It is a new year of racing at Shadybowl Speedway. With the annouced closer at the end of this season of Columbus Motorsports Speedway, what is going to happen to asphalt racing in Ohio?
Can Rick Young bring great racing back to Shadybowl? Can he bring teams that race at CMS to Shadybowl? Can he improve the picture of racing at Shadybowl enough to bring cars from CMS next year or will we loose more fans and drivers to other activities.
Rick had made a lot of changes to the Modified class last year and many thought it would kill the class. Shadybowl Modified class did not only not die, but has increase in size and compitition. There is more and better racing in this class. they had a tight battler for Championship and several teams won races.
Rick annouced major changes in the Late Model class and many thought it would kill the class. On April 30 we will find out. I have heard that there are 6 or 8 ready to race and 6 more that need to be finished. Now will all the cars be there all season? That is yet to be decided but some to watch for.
The street stock have very changes and is thought to be healthy with many cars come back from last year and a few new teams.
there is expect the same low car coount for the Tuner and compact classes.
The second year for the Pure Stock class had low car count first week but there are several cars that have not shown up yet.
We will see how many new teams show up this coming weekend with this being the opening day for most of the regular teams racing for points. The weather is expected to be warm during the day and cooling off in the evening. Anyone coming out dress warm and expect to see some good racing even if the car counts might be a little low. That is normal for the first few nights when weather is in question.
I as always expect to see increasing car counts in most classes and better racing. I beleive that the points race will be close in all classes this year. I think we will see some of the best racing that has been seen in many years. This is all determine by the drivers racing and having fun and the track inforcing the rules on a level playing field. I am ready for the reacing season to begin.
